The Providence Journal is proud to announce the 2026 All-State Boys Tennis First Team and Second Team. The Journal Sports staff, with help from the coaches associations, determine the First and Second Team members. All First Team members were nominees for Player of the Year in their respective sports and winners were announced at the All-State Awards Show held on June 18 at the Providence Performing Arts Center, which featured URI wide receiver Marquis Buchanan.

Ainley closed his career in style with his fourth straight All-State appearance, second on the First Team and as one of the best players in program history. Ainley was Mr. Reliable atop the Falcons’ ladder and was the best player in Division II this spring. He performed well at the state singles tournament with his fourth straight run to the Round of 16.
This is Anderson’s third First Team All-State appearance but first as a singles player. After winning two doubles titles to open his career, Anderson found success on the singles level and earned Second Team All-State honors last spring. He took his game to another level in his final season and battled to the semifinals at the 2026 RIIL State Singles Tournament.
Coker-Dodman has wasted little time establishing himself as one of Rhode Island’s best as he makes his second First Team All-State team. There was no sophomore slump for Coker-Dodman, who followed up on a terrific debut season with a better one in 2026. His state singles tournament ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to La Salle’s Andrew Smith, who got him in the semifinals last year, but expect Coker-Dodman to contend again in 2027.
Hopkins made a meteoric leap from his sophomore campaign, taking over the No. 1 spot for the Quakers and making his debut as an All-Stater. Hopkins, who played No. 3 last spring, had little trouble adjusting to the top spot and went on to the Round of 16 at the Rhode Island Interscholastic League State Singles Tournament, when he fell to Lincoln’s Braden Lynch, the eventual state champion. He’ll be a dark horse contender for the crown next spring.
Lynch showed plenty of promise in his debut season last year and became a force in his sophomore campaign. He maintained his spot atop the Lions’ ladder and established himself as the state’s top singles player, then confirmed as much with his terrific run to the state singles title, beating defending champion Andrew Smith of La Salle before toppling Bishop Hendricken’s Luca Testa in the final. Be prepared for better things from Lynch in his junior season.
Michaud’s off-season focus paid off big time this spring as the senior makes his debut as an All-State selection. A state doubles qualifier in 2024 and singles qualifier in 2025, Michaud refined his game and used a big serve and heavy groundstrokes to make a quarterfinal run at the RIIL State Singles Tournament, falling to Hendricken finalist Luca Testa.
The Rebels had a turnaround season and much of that occurred thanks to the consistent play of Plonsky, their No. 1, who makes his debut as a First Team All-State pick. Plonsky was a state doubles qualifier as a sophomore and Second Team All-State selection last spring, but showed how his game grew with a quarterfinal run in the State Singles Tournament, making him one to watch in 2027.
Seely was the best No. 2 singles player in the state and his success earned him a second straight First Team All-State nod and helped the Avengers win the state title. Seeley, a four-time state singles qualifier, dominated Division I out of the second-singles slot and made plenty of noise at the RIIL State Singles Tournament, where he made the quarterfinal round before losing a two-tiebreaker match to Barrington’s Gabe Anderson.

After a tough win over East Greenwich’s Tate Coker-Dodman in the quarterfinals, Smith played brilliantly in a three-set loss to Lincoln’s Brayden Lynch in the semifinals, marking the fourth straight final four appearance for the senior.
Testa gradually improved year after year and was at his best in the biggest matches, earning his second straight First Team All-State spot. Testa, a Second Team All-State pick as a sophomore, was terrific atop the Hawks’ lineup and was locked in for the state tournament. He picked up a tough three-set win in the semifinals over North Kingstown’s Will Michaud before falling in the state title match to Lincoln’s Braden Lynch.
The duo was a Second Team pick in 2024 and reunited this spring after Liam Levy’s one-year hiatus from the team. The brothers were in lockstep all season long and were instrumental in the Avengers’ first state championship win. In the RIIL Doubles Tournament, the Levys survived with a three-set win in the quarterfinals before finishing strong to become the first doubles champions in East Greenwich history.
