After spending his entire professional career chasing the elusive green jacket, Rory McIlroy found himself in a position to win his second straight Masters at Augusta National.
When it comes to the actual tradition of awarding the green jacket to the current year's champion, the defending champion is typically assigned with that honor. Last year, Scottie Scheffler put the green jacket on McIlroy.
But that begs the question: What happens if there's a back-to-back champion?
The Masters has a plan for that as well.
Should Rory hold on and win his second straight Masters, the honor will likely go to Masters chairman Fred Ridley. The late Hootie Johnson put the jacket on Tiger Woods after his second straight win at Augusta in 2002.
We'll have to see if that plan goes forward should Rory finish the win off.
