The long-term futures of Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm remain uncertain given the major concerns with LIV Golf.

LIV Golf will lose its funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund at the end of the 2026 season, placing its future in serious doubt.

And that should concern its two biggest superstars, who are Spanish ace Rahm and American icon DeChambeau.

Brooks Koepka has proven that a return to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf is possible, although Rahm and DeChambeau likely won’t have such an easy route back given that they rejected the offer that the five-time major winner accepted.

And according to Alan Shipnuck, DeChambeau may face another barrier entirely regarding the feelings of most PGA Tour players.

Most PGA Tour players claimed to want Jon Rahm back over Bryson DeChambeau

Speaking on Dan on Golf after last week’s PGA Championship, Shipnuck said: “It was fun to see Jon Rahm in full flight.

“Obviously he didn’t win but he was a couple of putts away from being right there. He hit so many beautiful shots.

“The violence in his swing is something to behold, the width is unlike anything else, that short backswing and the force he creates. He had a presence.

“There was something sort of majestic about Rahm from 2021 to 2023 and I think people do miss that. He has been a monster in the Ryder Cup and that elevated his reputation.

“Everyone knows that Bryson moves the needle, but Rahm has more friends in the locker room and I think the purists appreciate his game more.

“If you put it to the players I think they would vote Rahm and it would not even be that close.”

Is Jon Rahm a better option for the PGA Tour than Bryson DeChambeau?

Of course, any decision to bring Rahm and DeChambeau back must not be based on the PGA Championship alone, but it was certainly a good indicator of their current status.

The Spaniard was in contention to lift the trophy at Aronimink, showcasing his superb ability as he finished three shots off winner Aaron Rai in a tie for second.

Meanwhile, the American suffered a PGA Championship nightmare, shooting seven-over from his first two rounds to miss the cut.

Long-term history is also on the side of Rahm, who is an 11-time PGA Tour winner and a former world number one, with DeChambeau having claimed nine wins and a career-high rank of fourth.

He does, however, boast a huge following thanks to his YouTube content, while he joins his LIV Golf counterpart on two major wins.
