It's a historic night in Major League Baseball.
For the first time, the automated ball-strike challenge system, ABS, has arrived for the MLB regular season. Batters, catchers and pitchers will be able to challenge balls and strikes called by the home plate umpire.
That will bring these umps just a bit more into the spotlight.
Before, people could yell at them, but ball and strike calls weren't changing. Now, they could change.

And if a given umpire has a rough night, with a lot of calls getting overturned, people will notice.
So when the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants play on Wednesday night in the first game of the season, the man behind the plate will be a bit more in the spotlight.

Who is home plate umpire for Yankees-Giants?
The home plate umpire for the Yankees-Giants game is Bill Miller.
Miller is a 58-year old who has been a crew chief since the 2014 MLB season. He began his career in the American League in 1997.
He has worked five World Series, two WBCs and two All-Star Games.
Miller has also served as the President of the Major League Baseball Umpires Association.
And now, he has this historic post. He'll almost certainly be the first umpire to have challenges against him. We'll have to wait and see how many times he was right on the close calls versus wrong.
