Alex Freeman picked a wonderful time to score the third international goal of his career. The 21-year-old found the back of the net late in the first half of the United States' group stage showdown with Australia. After being initially ruled offside, VAR confirmed the goal, giving the Americans a 2-0 lead and clear path to the knockout rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It was an affirming moment from one of the nation's young stars. But a Freeman crushing it in Seattle isn't anything new. Freeman's dad Antonio was a star NFL wideout with the Green Bay Packers. While he only played a single game in Washington state, it was one hell of a performance.

The elder Freeman lit up the Kingdome in his one road game against the Seattle Seahawks. Per CheeseheadTV's Dan Kotnik, he finished with seven catches, 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The one-time All-Pro spent nine seasons in the NFL, eight of which were in Green Bay. Between 1997 and 1999, he feasted on gunslinger downfield throws from Brett Favre, racking up more than 3,700 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns in the process. He was the team's leading wideout in 1996 as well, where the franchise claimed its third Super Bowl championship.
