Another spring high school sports season has sprung in the Greater Taunton area.
In the first week and a half, Taunton baseball kicked off its second straight Hockomock Kelley-Rex title defense with three league wins while Taunton volleyball also got off to an undefeated start. Bridgewater-Raynham track had an athlete score a pair of wins in a four-team meet while Bridgewater-Raynham lacrosse scored a key early Pioneer Athletic Conference win and Bristol-Plymouth baseball kicked off a new era under a new head coach.
The Taunton Daily Gazette High School Boys Athlete of the Week for Feb. 16-22, the final of the Winter 2025-26 season, is Taunton hockey's Braden LaChance, receiving 75% of the vote. Bridgewater-Raynham hockey's Dante Tudor came in second with 23% while Bridgewater-Raynham basketball's Cam Santos received 1% to finish third.
Now is your chance to choose the Taunton Daily Gazette High School Boys Athlete of the Week for March 26-April 5, with polls open through noon, Sunday, April 12. Only players from teams that submitted stats to the Gazette or made them readily available online can be featured in this poll. Scores and stats can be submitted via email to [email protected]. Who is the Taunton Daily Gazette High School Boys Athlete of the Week for March 26-April 5?
Travers went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run and 3 RBIs against North Attleboro.
Strausbaugh went 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs, including the bottom of the seventh winner, against Framingham.
Oliveira went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI against English.
Herbert had 4 goals and an assist against Attleboro.
Cooley won first singles 6-0, 6-1 against St. John Paul II.
Ocampo won both the 100 meter (0:11.08, personal best) and 200 meter (0:22.54, personal best) at the Trojan Invitational.
Providence had 14 kills and 25 digs against Attleboro.
Bessette had 15 kills, 7 blocks and 3 aces against Argosy Collegiate Charter.
