Connor Ingram is the guy the Edmonton Oilers are turning to with their season on the line.

He didn't always seem like a goalie with much promise at all, let alone NHL playoff starter level of ability.

Ingram has a fascinating origin story, to be sure.

Who is the Oilers' goalie?

The Oilers are relying on Connor Ingram in goal as they try to come back against the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the 2026 postseason.

He's a 29-year old netminder from Saskatoon in Saskatchewan.

Connor Ingram was cut?

Ingram has told his story in the past -- he was cut from his Bantam AA team when he was 14. He only began playing goalie when he was 12.

He eventually made his way to the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers, and from there, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft.

Connor Ingram NHL timeline

It took Ingram a long time to go from that Lightning draft pick to his NHL debut.

That actually came with the Nashville Predators in 2021-22, when he played three games.

He then played 77 games across the next two seasons with the Arizona Coyotes, then 22 more games with that franchise after it moved to Utah in 2024-25.

Ingram came to Edmonton for the 2025-26 season and played 32 regular season games.

And if the Oilers are going to extend their campaign, they'll need Ingram at his best in the playoffs.
