Former Ole Miss golfer Jackson Suber has put himself in excellent position after two rounds at the Open Championship.
Suber is tied for second place at 6-under heading into the weekend at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. He shot 1-under 69 on July 17 after taking the lead on the first day with a 65 for a two-day score of 6-under 134.
Lucas Herbert, an Australian with one career PGA Tour win, leads the field at 8-under. Suber and Herbert will tee off in the final pairing of the third round. Their tee time is 9:50 a.m. CT (USA Network/NBC).
Cameron Young and Ryan Gerard are the other two tied with Suber. Bryson DeChambeau (5-under) dropped behind that trio on the leaderboard after being assessed a two-stroke penalty after his round for improving his lie on the fifth hole.
Suber, 26, is from Tampa, Florida.
He played for Ole Miss from 2018 to 2022 and broke out as an upperclassman. He was a back-to-back first-team All-SEC pick in his junior and senior years.
Suber turned pro after college and spent a season on PGA TOUR Canada and the Korn Ferry Tour. He earned his PGA Tour card in 2025.
Suber earned his way into the field at the Open Championship by finishing in a tie for fourth at the RBC Canadian Open. This is the third major Suber has played in. He finished 73rd at the U.S. Open in 2024 and missed the cut at the U.S. Open earlier in 2026.
Suber is still seeking his first PGA Tour win. He has $2.78 million in career earnings.
