Rod Brind'Amour could make a pretty exclusive list with a Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup victory this spring.
Brind'Amour has spent most of his NHL career with the Hurricanes, where he captained the team to its only Stanley Cup back in 2006. After his retirement in 2011, Brind'Amour became an assistant coach for the Hurricanes that same year before taking the head coach mantle in 2018.
Carolina has enjoyed a great amount of success with Brind'Amour as a player and a head coach. And now, the team stands on the doorstep of a second Stanley Cup in franchise history. Should the Hurricanes beat the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final, Brind'Amour would become the seventh person in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup as a head coach with the same franchise he won with as a player.
Not only that, the last time that happened was back in 1956 when Toe Blake coached the Montreal Canadiens to victory. Here's the full list of NHL head coaches who won the Stanley Cup with the same team they did as a player.
