Fall sports practices are set to begin next week, featuring several new coaches – and a new sport – for Great Falls High and C.M. Russell High athletes.

Practices begin for golf on Thursday, Aug. 13, followed by football, cross-country, soccer and volleyball on Friday, Aug. 14.

CMR and Great Falls High will also field girls’ flag football teams for the first time ever this fall along with all other Class AA schools in Montana, with practice starting on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Here’s a look at who will be leading Great Falls’ prep programs for the fall season, including new hires.

Judah McAdam takes over for the Bison following Eric Fowell’s resignation in the offseason after four years as head coach.

McAdam is a Great Falls High graduate and former Bison boys’ soccer player. He coached at the youth level in Oregon prior to returning to Great Falls High, where he was an assistant on the boys’ team the past two years.

McAdam is a para-professional on the Great Falls High School faculty, per a Great Falls Public Schools release.

Bailey Pittman is the new Rustler boys’ coach after Brian Clarke led the team the past two years.

Pittman comes to Great Falls from Georgia, where he played college soccer for NAIA program Brewton-Parker in Mount Vernon. He was a coach at Dodge County High for the past five years and served as the head boys’ coach the last two in Eastman, Georgia.

Pittman is also an elementary teacher and will teach sixth grade at Chief Joseph.

Brian Crosby will lead the Rustlers in the program’s inaugural season.

Crosby has extensive experience over the past two decades, coaching CMR varsity girls’ basketball for nine seasons. He has also in the past served as an assistant on the CMR boys’ hoops team and coached middle school football and basketball.

Crosby is a member of the English department at CMR where he primarily teaches video production classes.

A.J. Griffith has been hired on an interim basis to guide the Bison in their first year of flag football.

Griffith is a CMR graduate who was a member of the Rustlers’ 2009 state championship football team, and is also currently an assistant on the Great Falls High baseball team in the spring.

Griffith teaches industrial technology at North and East middle schools.

The flag football coaching position will reopen at the conclusion of the season and interested candidates may apply at gfps.k12.mt.us at that time.
