Team USA won its first men’s hockey Olympic gold medal in over 46 years, and the White House isn’t letting Canada forget the historic day.
The 2026 Winter Olympics conclude Sunday after a legendary game between USA and Canada in the men’s hockey final. However, Canada will want to forget the way the matchup finished after the Americans stole the game in an overtime thriller.
For the first time in nearly 50 years, Team USA won an Olympic gold medal in Milan Cortina during the men’s hockey event. This comes after Canada earned bragging rights at last year’s Four Nations tournament.

Meanwhile, the White House was quick to torment its rival and former Canada prime minister Justin Trudeau on social media. The White House’s official X account posted a picture of a Bald Eagle standing over a Canada goose.
The bragging rights between Canada and USA will certainly be a talking point over the next few years. Especially considering that the Canadians have now gone three consecutive Winter Olympics without a gold medal in men’s hockey.
Team USA has three gold medals to its name in the history of the men’s hockey tournament, but the Americans had to wait 46 years since the iconic Lake Placid Games in 1980.
