Not even a series of weather delays could rain on Alabama State baseball's NCAA Tournament hopes during the 2026 SWAC Championship Tournament.

For only the third time in program history, the Hornets claimed the SWAC title after staving off Florida A&M in an 8-6 slugfest at Rickwood Field in Birmingham on Sunday, May 24.

On May 25 during Selection Monday, No. 4-seed Alabama State learned where it will be playing.

The Hornets will take the drive to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama, which earned the overall No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, in the Tuscaloosa Regional on Friday, May 29 at 6 p.m. CT at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Hornets have faced the Crimson Tide twice during the regular season, losing both contests by a combined score of 15-5.

Joining the Hornets in the Tuscaloosa Regional are No. 3-seed SC Upstate and No. 2-seed Oklahoma State. The Tuscaloosa Regional will feature a double elimination format.

The Hornets finished the season with a 34-21 overall record and went 20-10 in the SWAC.

In both its 2016 and 2022 NCAA Tournament appearances, Alabama State has yet to win a game. The Hornets hold an 0-4 record and have never seen super regional action.
