No. 20 Texas A&M (23–5, 5–4 SEC) will host Vanderbilt (18–12, 5–4 SEC) for a three‑game series beginning Thursday night at Olsen Field, with both teams entering on winning streaks and looking to gain ground in the SEC standings. The opener will decide which run ends first.
The Aggies arrive with one of their hottest offensive stretches of the season, averaging 13.75 runs over their last four games and outscoring opponents 55–20 during that span. The surge earned junior infielder Gavin Grahovac SEC Co‑Player of the Week honors, while freshman outfielder Jorian Wilson was named SEC Freshman of the Week. Up and down the lineup, A&M is producing with far more consistency, giving them a chance to compete in every weekend set moving forward.
Pitching remains the lingering concern. Every A&M starter, including the midweek arm, carries an ERA above 3.95. Shane Sdao sits at 5.26, while Weston Moss holds a 6.75 mark. Those numbers are inflated by a few rough innings, but the overall trend is clear. The margin for error is slim, especially with limited bullpen depth due to injuries.
Vanderbilt enters with momentum of its own after sweeping Tennessee on the road in a tightly contested series where all three games were decided by a single run and the first two went to extra innings. The Commodores also bring significant power to Aggieland, tallying 62 home runs this season, second nationally behind Georgia’s 85.
This weekend marks the 30th meeting between the programs, with Texas A&M holding a 16–13 advantage. The last six matchups have featured alternating sweeps, with the Aggies taking the series in 2024 and Vanderbilt sweeping last season. With identical conference records and postseason positioning on the line, the stakes are high for both teams as they open a pivotal SEC series.
