Texas A&M (24-16, 8-10 SEC) will go on the road to face No. 1 Texas (33-5, 12-3 SEC) at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas, in search of their first Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown since the Longhorns joined the SEC. While the Aggies' facing former head coach Jim Schlossnagle is the primary storyline, both teams are focused on getting out of the weekend with an SEC series win.
The Aggies have become one of the most talked-about teams in the SEC after pulling off back-to-back series victories against top-five national powerhouses Tennessee and Arkansas. With this surge, Texas A&M has turned its season around, improving its conference record from a dismal 1-9 start to 8-10. It has now set its sights on reaching .500 in SEC play.
These teams have met 162 times since 1973, with Texas leading the series 102-60. Even though the Longhorns have a significant series lead, the Aggies have won seven of the last ten and beat them to advance to the Bryan-College Station Regional to move on to the Super Regional.
