The spring season is now behind us in college football, which means ranking season is officially here.

We dove headfirst over the weekend with our rankings of the best and worst helmets in the Big Ten Conference, but elsewhere, more important rankings are being released. Notably, Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt came out with his post-spring top-25 rankings on Monday, looking at how he sees the balance of power for the new season ahead.

While Klatt's rankings aren't meaningful in the end when it comes to Associate Press rankings or coaches polls, but they do give us a good sense of what to expect going forward. It just so happens that Klatt is very high on the Oregon Ducks this year as well, despite a massive roster turnover that will net new starters at just about every major position on the roster.

Here's how Klatt's top 25 shakes out:

  1. Penn State Nittany Lions
  2. Texas Longhorns
  3. Ohio State Buckeyes
  4. Oregon Ducks
  5. Clemson Tigers
  6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  7. LSU Tigers
  8. Georgia Bulldogs
  9. Alabama Crimson Tide
  10. Illinois Fighting Illini
  11. South Carolina Gamecocks
  12. Michigan Wolverines
  13. Florida Gators
  14. BYU Cougars
  15. Arizona State Sun Devils
  16. Kansas State Cougars
  17. Iowa State Cyclones
  18. Miami Hurricanes
  19. Texas A&M Aggies
  20. Ole Miss Rebels
  21. Indiana Hoosiers
  22. Auburn Tigers
  23. Iowa Hawkeyes
  24. Baylor Bears
  25. Oklahoma Sooners

Earlier this spring, On3's Andy Staples released his top-25 rankings and put the Ducks at No. 6 in the nation. While it's not as high as Klatt has them, it's clear that Oregon is once again going to be among the top teams in the nation going into the season.

Their schedule also sets up for that to remain consistent throughout the year. The Ducks have a relatively easy open to the season, with games against Montana State, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, and Oregon State in the first four weeks before heading to Happy Valley and facing Penn State, which Klatt has ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation.

Should Klatt's rankings hold true, that will be quite the showdown.
