There is plenty of hype surrounding Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr’s second season starting, and rightfully so.

Many have him at a high pick in the 2027 NFL draft if he was to declare, others have him in contention for multiple national awards. One of the top analyst in the sport, Fox Sports Joel Klatt, recently ranked his top-10 quarterbacks in the country with Carr at No. 5.

He has Oregon’s Dante Moore at the top spot followed by Texas’ Arch Manning, Ohio State’s Julian Sayin and Ole Miss’s Trinidad Chambliss. Klatt think’s Carr is “a really talented player,” but there are some aspects that put lower that he can’t control.

The fact that both running backs, first-round drafted backs, are gone puts some question if teams will be able to stack the box and force Carr to throw more. That might not be a bad idea considering he completed 66.6% of his passes last season.

This does seem like a fair ranking, as the other quarterbacks also put up impressive numbers last season. Most of them will get selected high in the draft, which could push Carr to stay for another season. Regardless of where he was placed, 2-5 really are interchangeable, he’s still listed among the top talents in the sport.
