The Washington Commanders appeared set on the offensive line after the 2025 season. All but left guard Chris Paul were under contract for 2026, and the Commanders had a ready-made replacement in Brandon Coleman, if Paul departed in free agency.

However, Washington shocked everyone just ahead of free agency in March, releasing starting center Tyler Biadasz. Biadasz started at center for the Commanders for the past two seasons, and many believed he was more of a candidate for a contract extension than a cut candidate.

Washington reportedly pursued Tyler Linderbaum in free agency, but had no idea he'd receive the record-breaking contract he did from the Raiders. So, the Commanders turned to veteran Nick Allegretti, extending him for one season, and he likely starts at center in 2026.

As for Paul, he re-signed on a one-year deal and will compete with Coleman to start at left guard. As for the other three spots, Washington is in excellent shape with Laremy Tunsil (left tackle), Sam Cosmi (right guard) and Josh Conerly Jr. (right tackle). The Commanders extended Tunsil this offseason, making him the NFL's highest-paid offensive lineman after a terrific 2025 season.

So, where would you rank Washington's offensive line ahead of the 2026 season?

Sharp Analysis recently ranked all 32 offensive lines, and the Commanders came in at a surprising No. 22.

Laremy Tunsil failed to make the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2021, but right tackle Josh Conerly Jr. needs to really step things up after allowing 8 sacks and 43 total pressures last year.

Two things on this: Tunsil was arguably the NFL's best left tackle last season, as he was equally as dominant as a run blocker as he was in pass protection. His not making the Pro Bowl had nothing to do with his play.

Secondly, Conerly was excellent in the second half of last season after a rough start to his career. He's completely reshaped his body this offseason, working with Tunsil, who said Conerly reminds him a lot of himself.

If Washington's offensive line was ranked 22nd because of Conerly, that feels a bit harsh. His improvement from Week 1 to Week 18 was incredible. The Commanders' offensive line should be considered a strength ahead of 2026, but, like with everything else on offense, there are plenty of questions.
