Where does Titans' Cam Ward land in preseason quarterback rankings?

The long NFL hiatus is nearing its end, and by this time next week, rookies will have reported to the Tennessee Titans' training camp. Unfortunately, that still leaves time for outside analysts to continue with their positional rankings.

The latest to add some positional rankings to the mix was Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated, who ranked the league's 32 quarterbacks.

No. 25. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans

Ward has all the tools to be successful. His talent is undeniable, much of which contributed to him being the No. 1 pick in 2025. That said, he struggled on a horrific Titans team as a rookie (headlined by a pair of coaches, Brian Callahan and interim Mike McCoy), posting a league-worst -143.2 EPA.

However, Ward could quickly ascend. He has a veteran offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, who developed Josh Allen from a struggling youngster to an All-Pro in Buffalo. Tennessee also added rookie receiver Carnell Tate with the No. 4 selection and slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, a free agent who came over from the Giants with Daboll. Factor in the gained experience of 17 starts last season, and Ward is a poised breakout candidate.

Ward did struggle in 2025, especially early in the season playing in Brian Callahan’s dysfunctional offense. Once Callahan was gone, he did flash the abilities and potential that led to Tennessee selecting him first overall.

While the Titans have to solidify the offensive line in 2026, the improved weapons and having a real playcaller should be enough to allow Ward to climb the rankings throughout the season.
