Greg Schiano has been around a long time.

We all know the history of Schiano at Rutgers and what he was able to do before departing for the NFL. The 2026 season will be Schiano’s seventh since his return.

Paul White of Nittany Lions Wire put together a list of Big Ten coaches ranked by career victories. This got us thinking about a question we ask every year — where does Schiano rank in the Big Ten?

When looking at the list, it is a humorous visual to see Schiano ranked higher on a list than the likes of Ryan Day, Curt Cignetti, and Dan Lanning. Of course, Schiano has been around much longer.

Day has reached the 80-win mark at just 47 years old with a National Championship under his belt. Cignetti has completely transformed Indiana football in two years, including a title in 2025. Michigan, while it was two head coaches ago, also has a national title.

The Big Ten has rivaled the SEC as the best conference in the nation in recent years. For Rutgers, the goal is to just make a bowl game and that has not even been a guarantee year-to-year.

We will put together a power ranking of Big Ten head coaches a bit later this offseason but for now, here is how the coaches rank in terms of career wins:

  1. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa – 213
  2. Kyle Whittingham, Michigan – 177
  3. Bret Bielema, Illinois – 134
  4. Pat Fitzgerald, Michigan State – 110
  5. Matt Campbell, Penn State – 107
  6. Greg Schiano, Rutgers – 99
  7. PJ Fleck, Minnesota – 96
  8. Lincoln Riley, USC – 90
  9. Ryan Day, Ohio State – 82
  10. Luke Fickell, Wisconsin – 80
  11. Matt Rhule, Nebraska – 66
  12. Dan Lanning, Oregon – 48
  13. Curt Cignetti, Indiana – 46
  14. Barry Odom, Purdue – 46
  15. Mike Locksley, Maryland – 39
  16. Jedd Fisch, Washington – 32
  17. Bob Chesney, UCLA – 21
  18. David Braun, Northwestern – 19

While he is sixth in wins, and going to reach 100 for his career this season, where do you believe Greg Schiano ranks among Big Ten coaches?
