Barcelona have been dealt a blow with news that Marcus Rashford will miss Thursday’s Copa del Rey tie against Atletico Madrid due to a knee injury.

The forward picked up the problem against Real Mallorca and will sit out the first-leg of the semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid.

Hansi Flick has admitted “it’s not good news” to lose Rashford to injury, particularly with Raphinha also sidelined at the moment as well.

However, it seems that Barcelona won’t have to cope without Rashford for long. According to Diario Sport, Barca have decided to rule out him against Atletico primarily as a precautionary measure.

Rashford is still experiencing some pain but did work out in the gym on Thursday. The feeling within the medical staff is that it’s better not to take any risks at this stage in the season.

The hope is that Rashford will return to group training on Friday and then be available for Barcelona’s next game against Girona in La Liga on Monday night.
