Last week I caught a flight back home to Maryland on Thursday to chill out for the weekend. I watched the Florida State vs. Virginia game and unfortunately they lost but you know, even Muhammad Ali lost a fight every now and again. I really didn’t do much while I was home. I pretty much just stayed in the house and chilled out for three days. I caught up on sleep and tried to heal my body up from all of the aches and bruises.

I watched some of the other teams play on Sunday from across the league. It was interesting to see where we stand compared to other teams. I just wanted to see what they look like compared to what we look like. Some of the teams that are supposed to be the best teams I don’t feel like we are not in that caliber. The only thing that is different is what their records show and I know that is the only thing that matters at the end of the day but I honestly think the season is going to turn around. We had a break and we were able to get some guys back healthy. I’m looking forward to good things.

Unfortunately we lost Calvin Pace for the year. He had an accident back home and it really is hard to see a guy go down that has worked so hard. He had a great preseason and was just getting his feet wet. We’ll miss him but we have guys behind him that will just have to pick it up. It is tough to bounce back when you lose guys like Antrel Rolle and Calvin Pace but other guys are stepping up. Robert Tate is playing well and we’re looking forward to getting Eric Green back after a shoulder sprain and try to take this thing in the right direction. We’ve had a rough time but that is just the way the cards have been played to us and we have to play them out. The only thing I can say about this team is that we don’t make any excuses. If we lose a game we will be the first to admit our mistakes but we move on. We have to get ready for the next week so we don’t lose the next one.

I did get a chance to watch a little bit of the Titans game. They have a great quarterback, a hard running back and a decent offensive line. I’m actually looking forward to seeing Kyle Vanden Bosch. He’s a good guy and he has been playing pretty well this season after going through all of his struggles last year. It is one of those things though, when we step on the field it’s time to work and I’ll be ready.

We went back to work yesterday and everyone seemed to be very energized. The three days off can do a lot for you, then we have today (Tuesday) off and go to work full throttle Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and put it together to try to get this win. They’re a tough team. I listened to some of their coaches do interviews and they were talking about our defense and how we do a lot of different things. It is good to know that we are getting some recognition and their coaches are looking forward to maneuvering our defense. It is going to come down to us going out there and executing.

We have the home field advantage so we need to have another good week of practice because if you don’t practice well you won’t play well. It is easier said then done but we know we have to go out there and play well this weekend.
