The San Antonio Spurs arrived at the NBA Finals, by most measures, a year ahead of schedule after Victor Wembanyama and crew stunned Oklahoma City in seven games in the Western Conference Finals.
The New York Knicks, led by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, earned a No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference after a solid season and then hit a new level in their playoff run. They reached the Finals with sweeps in their last two rounds of the playoffs.

Game 1: Spurs -4 1/2. Over/under 218 1/2. Moneyline: San Antonio -190, New York +155
Mac Douglass writes: "The New York Knicks face a massive uphill battle to extend their 11-game winning streak. While their run through the Eastern Conference was flawless, heading on the road to face Victor Wembanyama with a potentially compromised Mitchell Robinson is a structural nightmare. ... Our experts’ top recommended play for Game 1 is to back the Spurs Moneyline (-196), securing the safest edge before any official injury determinations are made on the Knicks’ starting center."
The site predicts that the Spurs will win Game 1 against the Knicks, but it is taking New York with the points. It has the point total going over.
The site gives New York a 42% shot at defeating San Antonio in the first game of the 2026 NBA Finals.
It writes: "After extensive simulations, our model gives the Knicks a win probability of 32%, while the Spurs have a win probability of 68%."
Peter Dewey writes: "New York has covered the spread in nine of 12 playoff games, and it’s been favored in all but two games (Game 3 against Cleveland and Game 3 against Philadelphia) this postseason. So, this is a little bit of uncharted territory for the Knicks, as they’re facing a team that oddsmakers believe is clearly better than them entering Game 1. New York wasn’t great on the road in the regular season, but it has just one road loss in the postseason and is 8-8 against the spread as a road underdog overall in the 2025-26 campaign."
