When can you rate a draft?

How many years after a draft is complete can you accurately rate a draft?

I'm thinking 3 years. By then, most of the players have either made the team or not, their "trial" period is over.

So, we should start an annual thread where in April, we go back in time to the draft X years before and rate all of the NFL teams drafts that year and then compare that to the Cards draft. Then, over time, we could see A) How the cards have done and B) if draft success coorelates to on the field success.

So, how many years?

yeah, but it should be fairly obvious looking back on three years of production (or non) whether a draft was successful, on average, or not.

and you're prolly correct. some peeps will complain no matter what. the only difference will be that it will be difficult to discern the level of dissatisfaction. see, right now, with a losing organization, when i see them make a gaff i'm pissed. if we were winning and i saw them make a gaff, it's still a gaff, and i have a right to call 'em out on it and complain, but the difference would be that i prolly wouldn't be pissed, just annoyed. and it's all but impossible to read someone's complaint and tell if they're pissed or merely annoyed unless they explicitly state such.

Three years will give you a definitive answer. Two years will give you a good indication of whether or not he will make it.

I like the way TSN does it each year it is judged and context is provided over a 5 year period.
