Coahoma senior Mia Clemmer and her teammates are no strangers to the bright lights of the University of Texas’ Red and Charline McCombs Field.
Clemmer – a standout hitter and elite defensive catcher who committed to play college softball for the Texas Longhorns on National Signing Day – will wrap up a strong high school career at the ballpark where she’s set to play collegiately.
In four years as a varsity starter, she tallied a .583 batting average, .670 on-base-percentage and a .992 fielding percentage as one of the Big Country’s premier defensive catchers.
She has also recorded 185 RBIs, 117 runs scored, 60 doubles, 58 home runs, six triples, 95 walks and 12 stolen bases offensively in 117 career games played for the Bulldogettes.
Clemmer, however, missed a big chunk of the regular season for Coahoma after sustaining an undisclosed injury that caused her to miss most of February, March and April of her senior season.
Clemmer made appearances in three regular-season games for the Bulldogettes in 2026: an early season contest against Slaton in early February and a pair of late-season games versus Stanton and Anson in late March and late April, respectively.
The senior tallied three RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles, a triple and a home run on 4-for-9 hitting during the regular season.
Clemmer, though, has caught for Coahoma again in the 2026 UIL Softball Playoffs.
She has started in all eight of the Bulldogettes’ playoff games since the postseason began, adding a shot in the arm to the heart of an already deep and dangerous Coahoma lineup offensively.

Clemmer has recorded 15 RBIs, four runs scored, four doubles and a pair of home runs on 13-of-25 hitting throughout the Bulldogettes’ postseason run.
She also shifted back to catcher – her primary position defensively – during the 3A DII UIL state semifinals, where she helped Coahoma lock up a 13-3 win over Grand Saline with an RBI double and a defensive putout when she gunned down a runner trying to steal second base.
The future Texas Longhorns’ backstop should be primed for another high-impact game when the Coahoma Bulldogettes (29-4) return to the UIL Softball State Championships for the fifth consecutive season, where they’re set to face the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lady Lions (36-3) in the 3A DII UIL state title game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Red and Charline McCombs Field in Austin.
Clemmer has shined while playing at the Lady Longhorns’ ballpark during Coahoma’s last three state championship runs.
In five career high school games for the Bulldogettes at Red and Charline McCombs Field, Clemmer boasts three RBIs, a run scored, two doubles and a home run on 5-for-21 hitting.
At the conclusion of her high school career, Clemmer will join former teammate and Coahoma Bulldogettes’ star pitcher Hannah Wells – who was recognized as the 2025 Gatorade National High School Softball Player of the Year – on the Texas Longhorns’ softball squad for the 2027 collegiate season.
