With a 29-point lead in Game 4, it looked all but certain that the Spurs would be back in San Antonio with a tied series. Then, OG Anunoby happened.
Anunoby may not have been a household name before this series, but he sure is now. The British forward finished the game with 33 points on 7-for-9 three-point shooting. He also played lockdown defense on De'Aaron Fox in the second half, leading to the Spurs' collapse.
Looking ahead to Game 5, the Spurs need to find a way to better maintain a lead. This may include giving a start to someone like Dylan Harper after Fox's struggles. All in all, the first and second half splits encapsulate the Spurs' collapse perfectly. At halftime, San Antonio had 76 points. In the entire second half, they had 30.
The Knicks will need to do one of two things in Game 5 to ensure that this level of comeback is not necessary again. The first is to maintain their ridiculous shooting efficiency. The Knicks shot 46.9% from beyond the arc in Game 4. The other solution is to maintain better ball control. The Spurs had 10 steals in Game 4, and took eight more shots than the Knicks. Better handling would relieve the pressure to make an exceedingly high number of threes.
