Detroit — The PGA Tour is losing the Rocket Classic.
Rocket Companies confirmed to The News on Tuesday that the 2026 Rocket Classic, set for July 30-Aug. 2 at Detroit Golf Club, will be the last playing of the tournament, which debuted in 2019.
Here are statements made to The News by the key stakeholders in the Rocket Classic:
"The Rocket Classic has always been about more than golf — it has been made possible by the people and partnerships that have helped create meaningful, lasting impact across the Detroit community throughout the years. We are deeply grateful to the leaders across the State of Michigan, Wayne County, the City of Detroit, and the many team members at Rocket who have supported this effort with care and commitment. We are especially thankful to the leadership, staff, and members of the Detroit Golf Club for their patience, partnership, and unwavering support over the years, and to the fans whose passion and energy have made each round feel truly special. We look forward to continuing this work together — with all of these groups and many others — to make the 2026 Rocket Classic the most memorable one our community has ever experienced, and to discover together what comes next in our beautiful neighborhood."
"The Rocket Classic has been an extraordinary success for the City of Detroit, the PGA Tour, Rocket, and the Detroit Golf Club. The tournament has elevated the profile of our club, generated a lasting charitable impact throughout the community, and showcased Detroit to a global audience. We are deeply grateful to Rocket and its founder, Dan Gilbert, for their vision, leadership, and partnership in creating such a meaningful legacy."

“The PGA Tour is grateful to Rocket, which will conclude a 13-year run as a title sponsor following this year’s Rocket Classic. We remain interested in the Detroit market and will explore options for a new sponsor.”
