The price of World Cup tickets across this year’s tournament has been a major talking point.
Soccer is generally viewed as a sport for the people, but many fans will have been priced out of travelling to North America this summer to watch their countries in action.
We have seen World Cup final ticket prices reach well into the thousands this month, but some people have actually willingly paid $1m to watch Sunday’s game between Spain and Argentina.

On-the-pitch World Cup final tickets sold for $1m
The action took place at the New York New Jersey Stadium, and hospitality provider On Location sold some on-the-pitch seats.
Instead of normal sports seats like the rest of the ground, supporters were seated on couches, while the package even included sun hats as they were seated on the sunny side of the stadium. How generous.
The view that fans who bought the seven-figure tickets got has also been shared online:
It is a good view of the pitch, but it is hard to see why anyone would want to spend that much money to watch a game of soccer.
Regardless of the high ticket prices across this summer’s World Cup, though, most stadiums did appear to be pretty full.
But long-time fans may be worried that FIFA and others are only going to keep increasing ticket prices, which may well end up pricing more supporters out of the game.
