Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have been paired together for the first time this season at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The last time Scheffler and McIlroy were drawn together was at the Tour Championship in August last year.

Interestingly, the American and the Northern Irishman were paired together the previous week as well, at the BMW Championship.

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have not played alongside each other so far in 2026, but that will change this week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Golf fans are seriously excited at the prospect of seeing the two best golfers in the world in the same group.

Scheffler and McIlroy have huge respect for one another, but they will both be desperate to beat each other this week at TPC Southwind.

Scheffler got the better of McIlroy when they played together at the BMW Championship last year.

The world number one went on to win that week at Caves Valley, while the Northern Irishman ended up in a tie for 12th.

After the opening round, Scheffler was asked how he found McIlroy’s pace of play.

Yeah, it’s always fun playing with Rory, we draw a nice crowd, the 30-year-old said.

The crowd did a great job of cheering us both on.

He’s a great pairing. He plays fast, he plays well and we had a good time out there.

What Rory McIlroy said about Scottie Scheffler’s pace of play​


McIlroy spoke about Scheffler’s pace of play after they were paired together at the BMW Championship last year.

I love playing with Scottie. I always have,” said McIlroy.

I like the cadence that he plays the game at. I like his rhythm. He doesn’t really take a ton of time.

I feel like there’s guys that you like to get paired with, and there’s guys – some guys that you don’t. I’ve always enjoyed playing with Scottie.”

Judging by those comments, Scheffler and McIlroy will surely be happy that they’ve been drawn to play together at the FedEx St. Jude Championship this week.
