What is the time difference between the U.S. and Italy?

Preparing to watch events across the 2026 Winter Olympics will be a little difficult for those of us in the U.S. who have to account for the time difference in Italy.

Working off of Central European Time (CET), Italy is six hours ahead of those of us on the East Coast. It's a seven hour difference for people in the Central time zone, eight hours for those in the Mountain time zone and nine hours from the Pacific.

Time difference between U.S. and Italy​

• ET: 6 hours behind
• CT: 7 hours behind
• MT: 8 hours behind
• PT: 9 hours behind

That means the Opening Ceremony, scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. CET, will start at 2 ET, 1 CT, 12 MT and 11 a.m. PT.
