Now that the dust has (almost) settled for our new coaching staff, what are our biggest offseason moves from a FA perspective? We have about >$64M in cap space but this does not include options on guys like Deone Bucannon (but does include dead money like Bradford, thanks Keim)

Do we address our terrible ILB or OL in free agency or try to hit on these in the draft? Here is a list of potential top free agents by position and their (age). Most of these guys will be pipe dreams since they will either resign with their current teams or cost an arm and a leg.

If we had an opportunity to sign one big time name I'd go with CJ Mosley from Balt who is in his prime and addresses an immediate weaknesses on the team. Alot of high profile OL from last year's free agency have actually performed terrible this year... What say you?

What's the plan. What's the plan what's the plan what's the plan.

That's a damned good question.

I like Henry Anderson 7 sacks in Bowles 3-4 in NY and Shelton has played NT in 3-4 in Cleveland. I'd like Avery Williamson too but I'm pretty sure the Jets signed him to more then a 1yr deal last year.

I wouldn't worry about S and would add OG to the needs list. I expect Foles and possibly Bridgewater to get a chance to be a starter this year.

Mosley or Williamson at ILB. I'd re-sign Golden and expect we draft Bosa so no OLB needed in FA.

Either Flowers or Shelton for DL.

Get Brown from NE for OT.

Sign one of the CB's you have listed and draft one fairly high in the draft.

Does anyone know if Barr from Minnesota will be available? I remember really wanting us to pick him when he was in the draft.

Solid, mid level guard.

Solid, inside LB.

Joey Bosa.

Agree 100% with them being aggressive in FA. As SK said, he’s coming out swinging, and he has with the urgency shown with staff hires. MB and especially SK have pushed all their chips to the 50 yard line after the mess of last season. I am cautiously optimistic things will turn for the better.

I'd forget about Clowney and Hicks. They aren't going anywhere.

After just watching the Cardinal/Cowboy 1970 MNF highlights, we need John Gilliam, Roger Wehrli, Ernie McMillan, Jackie Smith, and Larry Stallings types.

LB - KJ Wright

DL - Ndamukong Suh
NT - Domata Peko

WR - Corey Coleman RFA (low/no tender or cut) Gamble but dude crushed it in spread/air raid at Baylor

RT - re-sign Joe Barksdale if 5-6m/year or less
  • RT - back-up plan Jared Veldheer
RT/G - Billy Turner (if Kugler believes he can be solid starter)

QB - Davis Webb (cut by Giants or traded for 6/7th)

None of these guys are going to get top FA dollars. KJ Wright and Suh will get the most from this list.

CB - Steven Nelsen (depending on market. He is not worth top end money but is a solid starter)

Some really good names out there. You have to think that at this point, the vast majority of them will indeed test the market. Especially on the front 7 since we couldn't stop the run. Given the strong DL draft class, we might get a slight discount for some veteran DL help.

Bottom line . You can fill in the blanks. We need ot and a bad ass og in addition a wr like tyrell Williams and a te. The remaining o-lineman on this team will fight for the other guard and tackle position Cole as our center is fine and Shipley for depth. We have to solidify the offensive side of the ball. Now you can go bpa in the draft. We CANNOT go into the draft hoping an o- lineman or wr is there when we are on the clock.

IMO you sign whatever you can so you can BPA the draft.
this exactly. FA should be all about the offensive side of the ball. Our decisions on defense surround Buchanon and Golden. Do we keep them? Do we keep one of them? Do we sign neither? If it’s neither then that opens up some mone for a defensive free agent or two.

Just a guess, but there won't be a plan until all the new position coaches have time to learn what they've got and the scouting dept briefs them on what's out there.

If SK stays true to form, he'll develop a "FA Big Board ranking FA's regardless of position - & then a plan will grow out of that input.

That's how I see it.

I usually watch what we do in the first round of free agency to see what our plan is for the draft.
my guess is the current plan is to plug holes and resign most of our own guys.

There is no option on Bucannon. He's a FA.
considering he was directly related to MB being pissed at wilks my guess is we will try to extend him. Sitting most of the season may help us get him cheaper as his market value may have wained.

I just added WR and TE to the original list (in the first post). Sign me up for the Tyrell Williams camp - still relatively young and was on a decent contract last year (<$3M). Not sure what he'll command on the open market. Maybe take a flier on Phillip Dorsett? I know he was originally drafted to pair up with TY Hilton for speed on the edge... not sure about his performance lately

Side note: did you know Gresham is our fifth highest paid player? And he is getting paid more than guys like Jack Doyle, Zach Ertz, Tyler Eifert... WTF Keim?!

I would expect a rookie TE this year with how many are gonna be in the draft.
I wouldnt be surprised to see us pick one at 33 as there will be several guys at that spot who have a first round grade,..OT's are weak, as well as WR's at the top of this draft.
I think we will sign an OT and get a guard around the third or fourth round
