Officially official.
Illinois announced on Friday that Stefan Vaaks has signed with the Illini.
Vaaks, a native of Estonia, spent his freshman year at Providence, where he finished seventh in the Big East in points per game (15.8).
Vaaks is the biggest addition in the transfer portal for Illinois this offseason, as the Illini are fresh off their first Final Four run in 21 years.
Head coach Brad Underwood released a statement after the signing became official this week.
“Stefan had a very impactful freshman year at Providence, showing his versatility as a scorer and playmaker. He is a tremendous 3-point shooter with unlimited range and a great passer who sees the floor well. We feel we have added one of the best offensive players in the portal who will fit well with our returnees and recruits.”
