Detroit — What happens if the Rocket Classic can't finish Sunday because of bad weather over Detroit Golf Club?

A couple scenarios are possible:

  • If rain suspends or cancels play Sunday, when rain is forecast for Detroit for much of the morning and afternoon, the PGA Tour would push what's left of the final round into Monday.
  • If that happens and there's more rain Monday that still makes it impossible to finish, then the tournament would revert to 54 holes. In other words, the standings after Saturday's third round would be final.

For what it's worth, that second scenario seems very unlikely. The first scenario seems possible, given Sunday's soggy forecast, which already had the PGA Tour adjusting start times for the final round. The PGA Tour last had a Monday finish last month at the Travelers Championship. The PGA Tour last shortened a tournament to 54 holes in 2024.

The Rocket Classic, in its eighth and final year, has never had a Monday finish, despite severe weather over the years.
