The Milwaukee Brewers are facing off against the Washington Nationals on Sunday, May 3rd, and they're going to be down a few key players.

And not long before the game, Brice Turang, the Brewers' star infielder, was scratched from the game and taken out of the lineup. But why is he not playing?

According to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewers infielder came down with an illness and will be out of the lineup Sunday.

Why Brice Turang isn't playing today vs. Nationals

"Brice Turang scratched from the lineup with an illness," Rosiak reports. "David Hamilton slides from 3B to 2B, Luis Rengifo playing 3B and leading off."

Milwaukee is playing without its Gold Glove infielder on Sunday, as Turang is dealing with an illness that will keep him out of the starting lineup.

The 26-year-old has a .291 batting average this season, and went 1-for-3 with a single and two walks during Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Turang has been one of the best hitters on the roster, with his .919 OPS as the best mark among Brewers hitters with at least 30 at-bats this season.

He's also tied for the team-lead in stolen bases with seven, is the leader in walks (27), doubles (eight), and runs scored (27).

Losing Turang at the top of the order is a tough blow for the Brewers, as they'll have to go for the sweep of the Nationals without their best hitter this season on Sunday.
