It's just the third-place match.

But 4-0 at halftime is an astounding England score against France, no matter the stage. It's still the World Cup.

It doesn't mean as much as England would like it to mean, of course. Both sides in this match would've preferred this be the final.

But one team showed up, and one really didn't.

So what does this all mean, assuming it finishes this way?

What does England get for 3rd place in World Cup?​

Third place comes with a financial benefit as well as some medals.

The players will all get a bronze medal, akin to the Olympics.

And the payout to the third-place country is better than for the fourth-place country.

The third-place team will get $29 million.

The fourth-place team will get $27 million.

There also is at least a little bit of pride for England to defeat France, if the result does indeed hold up.
