The Milwaukee Brewers' neighbors to the west are headed in for a rivalry series and clawing for a playoff spot in the wild American League. The Minnesota Twins (56-59) arrive for three games, beginning Friday, Aug. 7, but don't let that losing record confuse you about their playoff aspirations.

Bunched up in the wild AL standings, the Twins are just three games out of first place in the American League Central and a half-game out of a playoff spot. The caveat, though, is that the Cleveland Guardians are also a half-game out, the Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers are one out and the Seattle Mariners are 1½ out.

The Brewers, meanwhile, are hoping to build on their three-game winning streak and hold off the hard-charging Atlanta Braves for the best record in baseball. Though the Brewers are three games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are rocking a six-game losing streak, the Braves have won eight straight and sit within two games of the Brewers. And nobody's forgetting about the Chicago Cubs, still 5½ behind Milwaukee but winners in four straight.
