I'm going:

1) *Top 2 Starter

2) Back end reliever/closer

3) CF/RF

Starters going into 2020:
Ray (1 yr. left) , Gallen, Weaver, Walker, Kelly, Young.

1) *It might be extending Ray, or seeing who is available Or both.

2) Anyone who throws hard has a complimentary breaking pitch and GOOD COMMAND.

3) Castellanos or A. Garcia should be targets 1a/1b there.

Need a 2B as well, unless the plan is to move Escobar there, in which case we need a 3B.

Robby Ray is not a top 2 rotation guy

This team is already built to compete outside of the starting rotation. It was so frustrating to watch this World Series being played by our former pitching staff. The Astros and Nats are quality teams with good position players, but so are we. They made it to the big time on the backs of their pitching staffs. Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin, Greinke, Cole, Verlander.....

that's why those teams were there. That's what we need to rebuild. If you want to win a title, you've got to pay for top talent in MLB. The rare low salary team can sneak into the playoffs once, but they sure don't stay there.

Move Archie, at best, back to the 7th inning
and add (as impossible as it sounds) three
pitchers to cover the 8th and 9th innings
throughout the season.

As the season came to a close, Archie, who
was demoted, then promoted in desperation,
made every appearance an adventure.

And the rest of the closing crew failed.

Hopefully our new bullpen coach-turned-
pitching coach will have the fortitude to
tell Torey to back off and let him handle
the bullpen (his area of expertise).

Torey's every-day-is-a-new-beginning
approach ruined most of the relief staff.

As well as bringing up starters from
the Minors, then having them sit in
the bullpen. Most of them disappointed.

All of this has been posted before
but, in response to this thread, we need
an all new combo of three closers for the
8th and 9th innings. That's how bad it is.

There is no single factor more important
than holding leads late in the game.

Hard to argue with you here. BP needs to be revamped. I had high hopes for Y. Lopez but he really faded as the year went along.

Marte may not be able to hold up all season as the regular CF. The switch back to permanent infielder may be closer then we think.

Then we would need at least 2, if not 3, outfielders.

Yeah their losing Dyson and Jones and getting back Souza mtl.

So, Peralta, Rojas, Locastro, Souza and possibly Varsho are currently OF's for 2019. Marte could rotate every so often.

They need at least one impactful OF signing.

He is for this team. Hopefully Gallen continues on his trajectory and Weaver can be counted on for a full run.

Let's aim higher. If Ray is a 1 or 2, that team isn't going Winn a world series. Ray had his place but I feel like it is as a 3.

I don't want Rojas anywhere near the field, and it's anyone's guess what Souza can bring to the table at this point.
