When a player signs a two-way deal with a team, there are a limited number of days that player can be active before he either needs to be converted to a standard deal or the contract just ends. That number is 50 games.
The Philadelphia 76ers brought in both Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker on two-way deals in the offseason and the two of them are quickly approaching that limit. Barlow has played 32 games thus far while starting 29 of them as he has become an important part of what the Sixers want to do while Walker has played 40 games.
Both Barlow and Walker have contributed to the Sixers as they bring hustle, energy, and intangibles that one can't see in a box score. The two big men have been terrific and one has to believe both will be converted to standard deals here in the coming weeks.
Per Marc Stein via his substack:
The Sixers currently have one roster spot open with the Feb. 5 trade deadline quickly approaching. In order to convert both of them, they will have to make a move to open up another spot. That means somebody like Eric Gordon or even Andre Drummond could be on the move before the deadline. It will be interesting to see as time moves on in the coming weeks.

The expectation in Philadelphia, according to a league source, is that both Barlow and Walker — barring some unforeseen change — will be converted to standard deals at some point during the regular season.
