West Ham United striker Callum Wilson has agreed a one-year contract extension with the London Stadium club, according to the Telegraph. The Englishman was close to leaving the Hammers during the last winter transfer window but has since established himself as a key player under West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Wilson has featured in eight games since first expressing his intention to leave, bagging the winner in the 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
The 34-year-old was expected to be behind January striker signings Taty Castellanos and Pablo in the pecking order. However, Pablo is currently injured, which has allowed Wilson to play more and prove his quality as West Ham look to survive the drop. Both parties are now willing to continue beyond the summer and an agreement in principle is in place for his deal to be extended until 2027. The former Newcastle United star is the third-highest scorer of players currently playing in the Premier League, with only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland scoring more than Wilson’s 93.
