Wales cycling duo Emma Finucane and Anna Morris will go for track gold at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome tonight after impressing in the morning session.
Finucane was part of the team sprint trio alongside Rhian Edmunds and Lowri Thomas that won gold on the opening night of the cycling, while Morris secured a bronze in the team pursuit alongside Jess Roberts, Megan Barker and Ciara Oliva.
Finucane has qualified for the sprint semi-finals where she will face fellow Welsh rider Edmunds.
Finucane set a new Commonwealth Games record of 10.322 seconds in sprint individual qualification and eased through the last 16.
This set up a quarter-final against reigning Commonwealth and Olympic champion Ellesse Andrews and Finucane beat the New Zealander comfortably in two races to achieve semi-final qualification.
Edmunds followed Finucane into the final four by beating Scotland's Lauren Bell, while Thomas bowed out at the last 16 stage.
Morris, who is the individual pursuit double world champion, will race for gold.
Morris qualified second fastest in a time of 4:25.817, just behind England's Josie Knight, with the two Great Britain team-mates going head-to-head in the final at 16:40. Morris beat Knight in the world final in 2025.
Oliva was sixth fastest in a new five-second personal best, while Roberts was 10th.
Morris also has a chance of a medal in the women's 10km scratch race alongside Barker and Carys Lloyd which starts at 17:56.
Rhys Britton and William Salter finished 10th and 13th respectively in the men’s individual pursuit qualification.
