Three UW Women’s Basketball players earn Big Ten honors, and a Men’s Basketball player earns national honors. Those and more for your Wednesday Dots.
Football Dots
- ESPN has a preview of storylines for the Big Ten teams heading into spring practices. Their storyline for UW is if UW can climb into the CFP conversation-which will be tough with so many elite teams in the Big Ten. Their position to watch is running back-not a surprise with the loss of Coleman and Mohammed. And, not surprisingly, the player to watch is Demond Williams Jr.
- SI’s Dan Raley is projecting the DL to be the best position battle in the spring with three transfers at that position (DeSean Watts, Darin Conley, and Kai McClendon).
- UW is adding Matt Cavanaugh, a longtime NFL assistant, as an offensive assistant. He will be helping Coach Fisch with offensive gameplanning.
Washington is finalizing a deal to hire longtime NFL assistant Matt Cavanaugh as a senior offensive assistant, sources tell @On3.

- In the category of “it’s never too early”, CBS Sports has bowl projections for 2026/27. They have UW in the Holiday Bowl against Virginia Tech (and their new coach, James Franklin).
Basketball Dots
- Hannes Steinbach has been selected National Freshman of the Week.
- UW will be celebrating 3 seniors when they host USC in their final home game of the season (Frank Kepnang, Jacob Ognacevic, and Quimari Peterson).
