The Jacksonville Jaguars made the bold move up the draft board on Day 1 to select wide receiver, cornerback, and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

To land Hunter, the Jaguars paid a hefty fee, parting with picks 5, 36, and 126 in this year's draft, along with next year's first-round pick. In return, they got picks 2, 104, and 200.

"He's somebody who is deserving of a first-round draft pick as a wide receiver, and he is worthy of a first-round draft pick as a corner," Gladstone said via ESPN. "Certainly look forward to each of those elements showing themselves over the next few years while he's under his rookie contract. But yeah, we're excited about just getting him in the boat, so to speak."

While the buzz around this trade began roughly 24 hours before Round 1 began, this deal was reportedly agreed to--with two contingencies--about two and a half weeks prior.

As Gladstone described, the Jaguars didn't begin the pre-draft process by saying that they had to pick Hunter, but as time went by, it became clear that he was who they believed they needed to add.

According to Adam Schefter, the Jaguars will play Hunter on both sides of the ball and will onboard him by giving him a "heavy dose of the wide receiver position while still playing him at his more natural position on defense."

Hunter hauled in 1,258 receiving yards last season on offense, catching 79% of his passes. On defense, he allowed a completion rate of 56% with four interceptions and seven pass breakups.

"You can count however many drafts you want to [and] there are players who have the capacity to alter a game. There are players who have the capacity to alter the trajectory of a team. There are very few players who have the capacity to alter the trajectory of the sport itself," Gladstone said about the number of picks Jacksonville spent to move up.

"Travis, while he has a lot to still learn in our eyes, has the potential to do just that."
