Lionel Messi still has some magic left just eight days shy of his 39th birthday.

The Argentine star scored a hat trick in his county's opening game to tie the all-time World Cup scoring record with 16 goals. He is tied with former Germany striker Miroslav Klose.

Messi scored three times in the first 76 minutes against Algeria during their game in Kansas City, Missouri.
