WATCH: Jamari Sharpe seals Indiana’s national championship with key interception

Indiana needed a play.

Miami was driving and the deficit was just six points with just under two minutes left in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. A touchdown and an extra point would put the Hurricanes in front with just a few, if any, seconds left for Indiana to make anything happen. The Hoosier defense made plays all night but it needed one more.

Jamari Sharpe was there.

Keelan Marion was flying right down the left sideline, looking to make the key reception that’d all but seal the game for the Hurricanes. Carson Beck saw him and loaded up. But he didn’t see Sharpe.

Sharpe leapt into the air and caught the ball before Marion could even think about making a play on it. With Miami having no timeouts, all Indiana needed was a few kneel downs to seal the game and win its first national championship in program history.
