All the Nuggets needed was an opening.

The Thunder gave them just that, and it led to a dramatic finish Monday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals at Paycom Center.

With 2.8 seconds remaining, Denver’s Aaron Gordon caught a pass on the left wing from Russell Westbrook and fired a 3-pointer that changed the complexion of the series.

Gordon’s 3 gave the Nuggets a stunning 121-119 win over the top-seeded Thunder.

It was the first loss of the postseason for the Thunder, which had not played in nine days after sweeping Memphis in the opening round.

The two teams meet for Game 2 at 8:30 p.m. CT Wednesday night at Paycom Center.
