Daryl that is. I can't remember, did he ever appeal his season long ban? There are rumblings that Josh Gordon will get his reduced to 8 games and it seems he has been in as much, or more, trouble than Washington when it comes to substance abuse.

Can't Washington say it was second hand smoke just as easily?

Cause Gordon wants to be back on the field, and Washington is fine being at home and being the 2014 pariah.

Washington is done in AZ.......at least one would hope.

Gordon is able to base that appeal on his level being just above the league limit, and then being under that limit with his second test.

Washington didn't appeal because it was positive at a conclusive level.

That and I think he skipped other mandatory tests.. he had absolutely no basis for even trying to appeal.

Skipped three tests, tested positive more than once. Any appeal would met with great laughter.

he'd have to be stoned out of his mind to try and appeal, but that probably goes without saying at this point.

If it wasn't already evident, I really, REALLY dislike Washington as person. He not only gets suspended last year, but while already facing that suspension, he gets into an altercation with a woman half his size where she ends up with broken bones... and even after BOTH of those offenses, he skips drug tests and tests positive again? That's one selfish, dangerous douchebag.

you just can't depend on a guy like that moving forward. shame, he's just a disruptive force for opposing offenses, but I think we're going to see he's an even bigger disruptive force against our own team this season.

The Cardinals were stupid for giving a guy with his issues the contract that they did. And, if they didn't know what kind of guy he was, they should have. They never should have picked up his roster bonus, and now they are paying for it, and will continue to for a while.

I don't think Washington's issues were a secret, even before the draft. As I have mentioned, a couple days after the Cards took him, I was told that he'll likely cause some problems. He didn't elaborate, but it shouldn't be surprising, to the Cards at least.

this is hard to argue with. I think the FO has done A TON right in the last two years, but this situation is one in which they have some serious egg on their faces. I'd think they would have had serious leverage to renegotiate that bonus with qualifiers or figured out someway to protect themselves considering Washington had already screwed the pooch numerous times before they picked up the bonus.

Has anyone seen details of his tests? I'm particularly interested in whether he had thc in his system or one of the metabolites. There's quite a bit of action in criminal courts now regarding metabolites and whether they can form a basis for establishing intoxication. Not that it really matters since the league is zero tolerance. To say you can't get weed in your system second hand is bull. That being said he should have left the situation if that was the case.

Silver lining...Bruce Carter and Sean Weatherspoon are both free agents next year. They both have had their issues, but could be brought in.

Also, it will be a good draft year for LBs, both OLB and ILB.

Sam Acho
John Abraham
Larry Foote
Marcus Benard

All free agents next year, and I can't see us bringing any of them back.

Washington missed three tests! Per NFL rules missing the test is a violation itself. So it really doesn't matter what the results of the test(s) he did take were. . .

It still hurts us more to cut him. He's getting tested 10+ times a month so he'll either turn it around or we'll know real quick if he's mailed it in. Are there any other past infractions that could cause another suspension next season?

yeah. breaking his girlfriend's collarbone.

that guy is likely one more infraction from likely being kicked out of the league for good. And for anyone who thinks that's hyperbole, think about the fact that he's going to be facing his third lengthy suspension next year... in three consecutive seasons. he's a Cardinal, but at this point he's one of the bad guys in the league.

My Gawd what an f'n idiot. How is another year long ban (at least) already not guaranteed for that?

I mean had Ray Rice had a reputation for drugs prior to punching his GF it probably would've been a year IMO.
