The Washington Wizards will get a look at another frontcourt rookie in Summer League after reportedly agreeing to a deal on Thursday.

Cal forward John Camden will join the Wizards for Summer League, per multiple reports.

Camden now becomes the latest name alongside AJ Dybantsa, Felix Okpara and undrafted rookie Keyshawn Murphy, who signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Wizards one day prior to Camden's deal.

Yet with the clear opportunity to address the frontcourt, the Wizards are getting a look at an intriguing piece who posted consecutive productive seasons.

Camden began his college career at Memphis where injuries limited him to just one appearance in 2021-22, but he entered the transfer portal one season later where he appeared in 37 games off the bench at Virginia Tech. Yet the 6-foot-8, 220 pound forward struggled with production after averaging fewer than two points each season, leading him into the transfer portal once again.

During his lone season at Delaware, Camden was named to the 2024-25 All-CAA second team after finishing second on the team in both scoring and rebounding. It was with the Blue Hens when he materialized into a productive piece after starting in all 36 games and averaging 16.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in over 34 minutes per game, while also shooting nearly 47% from the field and over 41% from three. During the conference tournament, Camden averaged 17.4 PPG and 7.2 RPG in leading 12th-seeded Delaware to an improbable 2025 CAA Tournament championship game appearance.

Camden cashed in on his production to enter the transfer portal once again where he closed out his college career back in the ACC after finalizing his transfer to Cal.

“Will his game translate?”

As a senior, Camden started all 33 games and averaged 13.8 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 44.5% from the field and just under 40% from three with the Golden Bears. His 87 made threes ranked the third most in a single season in program history, doing so while ranked 51st in the nation in three point shooting percentage.

Camden becomes the fourth addition to the Wizards' Summer League roster with a possibility that former Nicholls State head coach Tevon Saddler joins the organization to fill Cody Toppert's role as head coach of the Capital City Go-Go, the team's G League affiliate. Saddler would fill Cody Toppert's role, who is expected to join head coach Brian Keefe on the Wizards' assistant staff for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
