The Washington Huskies ran their winning streak to 12 games on Sunday after taking down the Maryland Terrapins 8-2.

Coach Heather Tarr's team was led by an impressive performance in the circle between Sophia Ramuno and Ryan Maddox, who surrendered just 2 hits in the contest. The former allowed 2 runs on one hit (a two-run home run off the bat of catcher Zayda Rocke) with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings, before the latter earned her first win of the year after letting up the other hit with 4 strikeouts across the final 3 2/3 innings.

At the plate, the Huskies were led by a dominant performance from Ally Hetzel. The freshman catcher has quickly become a staple in the middle of Tarr's lineup and showed why on Sunday, going 3-for-3 with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.

But Hetzel was far from the only contributor as the Huskies strung together 11 hits. Left fielder Ava Carroll launched a three-run home run to tack on to give Washington some breathing room in the bottom of the third inning after an RBI single from Hetzel put the Huskies ahead for good, while sophomore Gabi Toney went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Elisea Wiegand took the loss for the Terps, which dropped her to 3-4 on the season after she surrendered 6 runs on 6 hits with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Washington improved to 22-6 on the season with the win and remained perfect at 6-0 in Big Ten play. They'll return to Husky Softball Stadium on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. PT for a matchup with North Dakota.
