Three summers ago, Demond Williams Jr. dazzled the scouts and evaluators to earn a spot as an Elite 11 Finalist.

Now, the former Basha High School star and Washington Huskies' starting quarterback is back at the annual summer prep event in Los Angeles as one of several current college players serving as a counselor.

Although four-star Desert Edge High School (Goodyear, Ariz.) quarterback and UW commit Blake Roskopf isn’t among the contingent of signal-callers of high school recruits on hand in Southern California, Williams Jr. joins Cal sophomore Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele and Auburn senior Byrum Brown, among others, helping coach the nation's top high schoolers while also competing against each other in various workouts.

This isn't the first time Williams Jr. has been a camp counselor for a notable annual event. In both previous summers, the Arizona native has worked at the Manning Passing Academy, held at Nicholls State University in Louisiana, which he's credited with helping improve his game since entering the college ranks in 2024.

Coincidentally, both Williams Jr. and sophomore Elijah Brown—a transfer addition from Stanford this offseason— were two of the eight Elite 11 Finalists in 2023. That class featured several other high-profile quarterbacks, including Julian Sayin, who returns for his second season as Ohio State's starter, who won the Elite 11 MVP honors the same summer both Husky quarterbacks vied for the honor.

Williams Jr. is entering his second full season as UW's starter under head coach Jedd Fisch in 2026. Last year, the Basha product finished second in the Big Ten Conference in total yards per game (282.8) behind USC's Jayden Maiava and led the team to a 9-4 overall record, three more wins than the Huskies had in 2024.
