It's no secret that the Washington Huskies have one of the Big Ten's best quarterbacks in Demond Williams Jr.
According to On3's Ari Wasserman, the standout junior, who threw for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns with 8 interceptions on a 69.5 completion percentage, while adding 611 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground, ranks as the No. 4 quarterback in the conference, behind Oregon's Dante Moore, Ohio State's Julian Sayin, and USC's Jayden Maiava.
Heading into 2026, coach Jedd Fisch is expecting Williams to live up to that ranking both on and off the field. Off the field, he'll assume a larger leadership role on the team heading into his second full year as a starter, while looking to replace the on-field production of running back Jonah Coleman and wide receiver Denzel Boston.
Nationally, Williams will also be under a bit of a microscope after his brief flirtation with the transfer portal, but the quarterback is trying to use that to his advantage as he continues to develop.
"It definitely helped me grow into the man I am right now," Williams told the Big Ten Network's Yogi Roth of his tumultuous January. "It continued to help me mature and understand situations, how to handle certain things."
"It was super important to me to go back and build those relationships back, and I feel like that molded me into the leader I am now, to be able to be more outspoken, be more understanding to certain situations that people go through, you really might not know, but being able to reflect positive energy at all times is super important to me."
If Williams can make the next step in his progression on the field as a junior and become a reliable presence in big games, he could continue to establish himself as one of the nation's top quarterbacks.
