SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The high school softball postseason kicked off on Tuesday with teams fighting for a spot in the state tournament.

No. 3-seed Washington dominated No. 14-seed Mitchell with a 10-0 run rule victory. Maddy Mescher earned the win for the Warriors with thirteen strikeouts, one hit, and no runs across five innings.

No. 7-seed O’Gorman went up early on No. 10-seed Yankton to take down the Gazelles 8-3. Sonia Deckert went three-for-four at the plate, with two runs and an RBI for the Knights.

The state tournament begins on June 4 with Class ‘AA’ playing at Augustana and Class ‘A’ and ‘B’ at Players Softball Complex.
